Caretaker/Estate Manager - Semi-retired professional would like a
position to provide security/upkeep/supervision on a property with
absentee owner. Have professional consulting experience in large
commercial building projects: can supervise contractors and tradesmen.
Short term employment acceptable. Fees for services are minimal and
based on the extent of duties required. Will be available starting the
last week in October. Contact email: FrancisHemsher@comcast.net, or
cell: 412-352-2508. References available on request.
I retired early from my consulting firm, about 10 years ago. In Julian I
was founding president and chairman of the Volcan Mountain Preserve
Foundation and helped establish other land preservation organizations in
San Diego County. I served on the Julian Planning Group and am well
known in the Julian area. After about 15 years in Julian, for the past
year I have been reconnecting with my three daughters and my
grandchildren in Pittsburgh PA. It's been very special, yet it is time
to return to San Diego County. The backcountry is my preference, but
frankly Julian, and its touristy mentality, is not preferred. I like
Palomar. I have backpacked on the mountain, and appreciate its
presence. For the past six years, I have been a web developer and like to
work in the serenity of the Backcountry. My primary goal is to work/live
in a quiet non-commercial environment.
So, with limited financial resources, I am seeking a place to live on
Palomar. While
in the Julian area, I have lived at some very nice places by being
caretaker/property manager. Ideally, if you know of a need for someone
mature and responsible to function in that capacity, I would be most
pleased to be considered.
Hoping to meet you on Palomar!
Francis

- Solar Electricity and Water Heating
-
gogosolar@cox.net (George Salter)
I sell Solar Systems through Horizon Industries in Escondido, CA. I was up on
the mountain getting measurements to give the Christian Center a bid to Solar
heat their pool. I saw Alan Serry at the post office and he requested a bid
for a Solar Water heating system for the house he is now building out by you.
I love the mountain and would love to get a cabin built up there someday. I
asked my wife for her hand up at the Observatory Camp Ground some 30 years
ago. (Has it been that long ago?)
I know that there are a lot of folks that have no power on the grades going
up the mountain. I have the tools and knowledge to help them provide their
own power. I can work with do-it-yourselfers as well as those that want us to
do it all.
If you would like send me a reply email with your snail mail address on it
and I'll send you a packet of info. gogosolar@cox.net (George Salter)

- Chimney Sweeps
- From Jim Billups:
We have been using the Pot Belly Shop in Ramona for the past four
years. Dennis and Tony own it and work with their son and daughter selling
all kinds of fire boxes: wood, pellet, and gas. Real nice people. Dennis
and his son do all the 'sweeping' and installations (they added some Class
AA pipe inside the house for us, to meet the new insurance
requirements). They charge $95 for Palomar and ream the chimney, spark
arrestor at the top, and thoroughly clean the firebox. Closed Sunday and
Monday, Open the rest of the time after 10am. 789.4567

I am one of your new neighbors on South Birch Hill (a weekender with a

I am also a freelance advertising copywriter, which means I can write your

designer buddies, I can manage your ads from initial concepts to final
production. Hey, it beats paying for the whole ad agency dog-and-pony show.
You can check out my work at

feel free to call if you just need a little advertising advice.
