  I retired early from my consulting firm, about 10 years ago. In Julian I was founding president and chairman of the Volcan Mountain Preserve Foundation and helped establish other land preservation organizations in San Diego County. I served on the Julian Planning Group and am well known in the Julian area. After about 15 years in Julian, for the past year I have been reconnecting with my three daughters and my grandchildren in Pittsburgh PA. It's been very special, yet it is time to return to San Diego County. The backcountry is my preference, but frankly Julian, and its touristy mentality, is not preferred. I like Palomar. I have backpacked on the mountain, and appreciate its presence.For the past six years, I have been a web developer and like to work in the serenity of the Backcountry. Some of you have expressed interest in having an iron gate made for your property, or some blacksmith work done. Here is a contact for you of friends of ours from Valley Center that really do beautiful work. This father/son team take pride in their quality of work, like you would find in the 'old country'. If you are looking for a gate, they need to be the first on the job so they can set the posts to support the gate properly.   I love the mountain and would love to get a cabin built up there someday. I asked my wife for her hand up at the Observatory Camp Ground some 30 years ago. (Has it been that long ago?)
