The Palomar Mountain Volunteer Fire Department continues to receive questions regarding insurance. Hopefully, this message will answer some of your concerns, but if it does not, please fee to contact us via email at palomarmtnfire97@aol.com. (our phone numbers are listed at the bottom)
The PMVFD responds to emergencies and other calls for service seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day. Driving time from the station to the community's centers of population (including Crestline and Bailey Meadow) is well under 5 minutes. However, as an all-volunteer agency, we do not staff the fire station. Therefore, the Department's average response time for the entire district is approximately 10 minutes. To the maximum degree possible, we do assign someone to our duty officer pick-up so that we can start one of our Firefighter- EMT D/Cs to an emergency without their having to drive to the station before responding.
Currently, we operate with the following equipment:
The community's ISO rating is 9. If your insurance company needs proof of the community's current ISO rating, let us know and we'll be happy to fax our letter from ISO to them.
The Crestline area does have numerous stand-pipes located along the road. These stand-pipes deliver water from the residential supply (approximately 70,000 gallons of storage capacity) and can significantly aid our firefighting efforts. An additional 30,000 gallons of Fire Protection Water are stored at the Fire Station Facility. If your insurance company asks about firefighting water supply, feel free to let them know if you have a stand-pipe near your home. The Bailey Meadow area has approximately 50,000 gallons of stored water which we can use to fight fire. We hope this helps.
