I'm Tandy Jenkins and I work for the U.S. Forest Service on the Palomar Ranger District of the Cleveland National Forest. This is just a reminder for everyone that burn permits are required for campfires, incinerators and pile burning. To learn what the requirements are for the permits or to get a permit please call Henshaw Fire Station at 760 782-3472 during the winter. Or if you like please give me a call at 760 788-0250 ext 3341. I can make arrangements for someone to come up and visit with you or I can mail you burn permit information in the mail. Unfortunately we can not issue the permit over the phone, we have to come up and inspect the site.
Also, clearances are required around your buildings. If you would like a walk-around to show you how to prepare your home and property in the event of a wildfire, please call and we'll make arrangement for that also. I can also send you information on what needs to be done. These clearances are for your safety, the safety of your property and the safety of the firefighters. We all want a home to go home to, and we all want to be able to go home. Please do your clearances.
